I hate the taste of green tea so I was wondering if the capsules are just as effective as the tea bags for weight loss/metabolism and which brand do you suggest? Thanks.

Green tea is not a weight loss supplement. It is simply good for you because it contains antioxidants (it actually contains the most powerful antioxidant out there). So if you want to lose weight, you’re going to have to do it with diet and exercise like everybody else.

According to Ken Black, founder of www.weight-loss-discovery.com, “losing one to two pounds a week is safe and recommended by most doctors for most people. This breaks down to 250 to 1,000 calories per day. You can achieve this easily if you follow some or all of the following guidelines”:

Use skim milk instead of whole milk or cream in your coffee.
Eat low fat yogurt instead of ice cream.
Eat more bright colored (green, yellow, orange, red) fruits and vegetables.
Eat more lean fish, chicken, or turkey and cut down on red meats.
Eat whole wheat or multigrain bread, instead of white bread.
Use a sugar replacement instead of sugar (avoid Aspartame).
Drink water instead of soft drinks.
When you eat out, avoid fried foods.
Walk or do similar exercises (e.g. Golf, Tennis) at least 20 minutes a day.

If you do even just a couple of these every day for the next month, you’ll feel much better and you will lose weight.

What can I tell my friend to stop laying into me about food?

Hey there guys,

A bit of my back story: I have been vegetarian going on 5 years now, and have been vegan for a year. I am a healthy weight, albeit on the slim size, am rarely sick except for migraines, have tons of energy and only have iron deficiency, however I have had this since I was a little girl and seems to be ingrained in my genetic make-up instead of related to my diet.

I often deal with a lot of stupid comments from people when they find out I’m vegan (I don’t usually tell people until they notice it when I sit down at the dinner table because of this) but recently, my friend has bee really laying into me. I normally eat a big bowl of fruit for breakfast, which normally consists of banana, apple, strawberries and pineapple. I generally sprinkle some coconut, walnuts, chia seed and 1 tbsp oatmeal on top, then I have some green tea and maybe a toasted full grain mini-pita (with nothing on it… they taste like chips haha) so that I can absorb my multivitamin a bit better. I always feel full and satisfied with this, and I find it wakes me up better than any other breakfast. My friend, on the other hand, won’t stop digging into me about how all it is is sugar and the reason I’m not hungry for hours is because I don#t eat right and it’s unhealthy to eat so little and my body needs protein and BLABLABLA. MY stats are excellent, with the eception of iron, which I am taking supplements for. How can I get her to stop?

** You should try drinking 8 to 16 ounces of water before each meal, this will fill you up and you will eat less, resulting in less calories at every meal. Weight loss pills are not very safe, at least water is safe. I know it may be hard at first to drink water, but you can add more and more everyday until it becomes easier, ( you will get used to it. I lost 50 pounds in three years and kept them off , I also walk for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week. Patience is needed,, if you want quick, this is not it, better to lose slowly than too fast (not healthy for your body) Also I think younger people lose weight quicker. Acai berries are high in antioxidants.
A diet high in antioxidant foods can help increase your metabolism.
An increase in metabolism can burn more calories.
More calories burned can result in weight loss.
Acai berries cause weight loss!
That is the “stretch” these con artists are selling.
Acai berries don’t have any more antioxidants in them than blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, or blackberries. At 10 times the price because they are “exotic”. Small red beans are the top antioxidant food. But they are boring and not sexy.
The cleanse pills that usually come with them contain nothing more than psyllium husk powder to help you poop more. There is no such thing as a fat burner. Burning more calories than you consume is the only fat burner. None of these weight loss supplements guarantee anything unless you establish a healthy diet and exercise program. So why not just establish a healthy diet and exercise program and keep your money?
The same stretch of the imagination marketing applies to green tea capsules, maquiberry, hoodia, moyoberry, gojiberry, fruta planta, hoodia, raspberry ketones, and african mango seed extract pills.
Spending the same $2 to $10 a day on this junk would pay for a great gym membership.
The only weight loss supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin.
A healthy diet high in both soluble and insoluble fiber is the only safe way there is.

How to get my weight back down to 110?

I weigh 155 and im 4’11″ I gained a lot of weight with my 2nd pregnancy and cant seem to lose it. I would love to have some tips to get back down to 110 in 5-6 months

Francoise answers:

Don’t go under 1200 calories, I would say 1500 calories maybe a little bit more depending on your exercise. IMPORTANT not to go below these numbers because you will shut down your metablism. Your body is smart and will recognize and go into starvation mode, you will start to feel weaker at these points. With that said here is some great advice to lose weight by increasing your metablism; eat lean meats like chicken breast and tuna for every meal, you should have five small meals a day each having protein, eat only good carbs and limit carbs after lunch, good carbs are oatmeal and wheat bread, wholegrain pastas and things of this nature, but protein is still the most important, next up supplementing these things, lemon juice is known to detoxify your body and slightly rise your metablism, cold water, when you drink cold water your body has to warm it up which burns calories, and drink lots of water a day, the cold water will burn up to 75 extra calories a day and you will deacrease your metablism by 2 % by being dehydrated aka not enough water. The chemical Caspian or something like that in red peppers and spicy foods will increase your metablism because its an irratant, which is why it burns or is spicy, but still only eat it on healthy food like tuna don’t think this will make the pizza any healtheir. Exercise of course , also look up interval training, can be very simple and it’s suppose to be better than long cardio at the same speeds. If your parents will let you take supplements then OxyElite pro is a great one but i suggest not only because it says 18 and older. On that note caffiene is a powerful fat burner but your wrong if you think sodas will become healthy, even alot of coffes are still horrible after all the cream. Caffiene is in green tea and grean tea is a metablism booster as well as anti oxidant. Be sure to sleep at least 7 hours a night, stay away from soda all together, not too much juice, and drink half your body weight in oz, so if your 250 lbs you drink 125 oz in water.
